Every wedding here receives the same rental and the same complete access to the property, whatever the size of the guest list. Intimate Weddings simply speaks to couples planning something smaller.
For most couples, that means a ceremony in The Garden, cocktail hour on the covered Veranda, and a seated dinner with dancing in the 3,000-square-foot Reception Hall, with bi-fold doors opening onto the Covered Porch whenever the party wants some air. Nothing needs a shuttle or a second location.

Here is how a full-scale wedding moves through the property.
Two private getting-ready suites open at 9:00 a.m. and stay yours until the end of the event, so both sides of the wedding party can dress, take photos, and settle in without trading rooms.
Ceremonies take place in The Garden, a fenced-in, landscaped courtyard of lawn and stone pavers at the heart of the property, with a suggested ceremony capacity of 150 guests. The Waverly has accommodated weddings with up to 200 guests; our events team can help you plan the ceremony and reception layout for your guest list. Your rental includes up to 30 minutes for the ceremony at no additional fee, on top of your five hours of event time. Ceremony chairs for The Garden are rented separately through a third-party rental company.

Guests step from the ceremony to The Veranda, a covered space beside The Garden with lantern lighting, ceiling fans, built-in heaters, and built-in speakers for background music. The Covered Porch offers a second place to gather. It connects to the Reception Hall through bi-fold doors, and its retractable screens can enclose the entire space. Across the property, cocktail-style gatherings can reach 200 guests.
The 3,000-square-foot Reception Hall is the centerpiece of the property: soaring ceilings, chandeliers, and room for a seated dinner and an evening of dancing. Round and rectangular tables are included, so you can build the room your way. A house sound system and wireless microphone cover toasts and background music, and DJs and bands bring their own sound equipment. When the party wants to spill outside, the bi-fold doors open onto the Covered Porch. Capacities are in the table below.

The included tables give you the building blocks for round dinner tables, a long head table, or display and dessert tables. Up to two bar setups are included with every bar package, and three 7-foot indoor white bars come with the rental. Ten cocktail tables support a standing reception.

Charleston weather keeps everyone honest, and the property is built with that in mind. The Reception Hall is fully indoors. The Covered Porch can be enclosed with retractable screens, and both the Porch and the Veranda have ceiling fans and built-in heaters. Bi-fold glass doors link the hall to the porch, so guests can move between inside and out as the evening changes. The Waverly does not provide catering. Your caterer works from our fully equipped catering kitchen. Choose from our preferred Charleston caterers or bring an outside caterer approved by Waverly management. Bar service is provided exclusively by Uptown Hospitality Group, with beer, wine, and liquor packages at three tiers. Outside alcohol is not permitted.
