Intimate Weddings
For couples planning a smaller guest list, the garden and veranda create a close, unhurried setting — one that's scaled to your group rather than built to fill a room designed for more people than you're inviting.
At 94 Stuart Street on the Charleston peninsula, The Waverly pairs a light-filled reception hall with a private garden, veranda, and covered porch — one address, exclusively yours from morning setup through your last dance, for up to 200 guests.
The Waverly opened on Stuart Street in the spring of 2025, brought to downtown Charleston by Uptown Hospitality Group — the team behind Bodega, Uptown Social, Share House, and By The Way. It was built as a wedding and event venue from the start, which shows up in details like the reception hall's bi-fold doors: open them, and the room extends straight onto the covered porch, rather than routing guests down a hallway or outside to a separate structure.
Every wedding booked at The Waverly gets the property to itself for the day. Your rental includes exclusive access beginning at 9:00 a.m. for setup, five hours of event time, and up to 30 additional minutes for your ceremony — no other event sharing the space, no working around another couple's timeline.
Not every wedding looks the same, and The Waverly is built to flex — from a smaller gathering in the garden to a 200-guest cocktail-style reception that fills the hall. Here's how couples typically shape their day:
For couples planning a smaller guest list, the garden and veranda create a close, unhurried setting — one that's scaled to your group rather than built to fill a room designed for more people than you're inviting.
For a full-scale celebration — ceremony, cocktail hour, and a seated reception for up to 160 guests, or a cocktail-style reception for up to 200 — the reception hall, porch, and garden work together as one continuous footprint, so the day moves without a shuttle or a second location.
The Waverly also hosts the events built around the wedding day itself — rehearsal dinners, welcome parties, next-morning brunches — in the same downtown setting, so out-of-town guests aren't crossing the peninsula between events.
Your wedding day may happen at The Waverly, but the celebrations surrounding it don’t have to stop here. As part of Uptown Hospitality Group, The Waverly is connected to several Charleston restaurants and gathering spaces that can give each part of your wedding weekend its own setting.
Whether you’re planning a rehearsal dinner, welcome party, after-party, or post-wedding brunch, explore additional Uptown Hospitality venues around Charleston:
A lively option for wedding-weekend gatherings, drinks, and celebrations with your guests.
A coastal-inspired Charleston setting for casual gatherings and wedding-weekend celebrations.
A casual downtown option to keep in mind for brunches and other wedding-weekend get-togethers.
The morning starts in two private suites, both yours from 9:00 a.m. — enough time and space for both sides of the wedding party to get ready without trading rooms. From there, most Waverly weddings move outdoors for the ceremony: a fenced-in garden setting with a lush lawn, large stone pavers, and an open-air atmosphere. If the weather has other plans, the Garden can be tented with a rain-reserve tent, or weddings of around 100 guests or fewer can pivot to a ceremony beneath the Veranda. Cocktail hour follows next door on a covered porch-style space — shiplap ceiling, lantern lighting, overhead fans — before the evening moves into the reception hall, where bi-fold doors open onto a second covered porch and let the party spill back outside between courses and dancing.

The Waverly keeps a short list of preferred Charleston caterers, already familiar with the space, at a 5% impact fee — or bring your own outside caterer, subject to approval and a 10% impact fee. Either way, you're building the menu, not choosing from one in-house option.
Bar service is provided exclusively in-house by Uptown Hospitality Group — outside alcohol isn't permitted. Packages are built by category (beer, wine, liquor), each offered at Standard, Premium, or Luxury tiers and priced per person, per hour, with staffing billed separately per bartender.
One wedding, one day, one address. Your rental is exclusive — no other event books the property alongside yours, so there's no shared setup window or overlapping timeline to plan around.
Real indoor-outdoor flow. The Reception Hall's bi-fold doors open directly onto the Covered Porch, which sits beside the Veranda and Garden — guests move between them, rather than being shuttled to a separate ceremony site.
Built as a venue, not converted into one. The Waverly opened in 2025 designed specifically for weddings and private events, from a hospitality group with an established footprint of restaurants and bars across downtown Charleston.
Choose your own caterer. Pick from The Waverly's preferred caterer list or bring your own approved outside caterer — you're not locked into one exclusive menu.
Accessible by design. A lift provides building access, and all restrooms are fully handicap accessible.
